No, I’m not dead.
Just too busy for my own good.
I thought it would be interesting to make a list of everything I’ve done today. This might give you an idea of the craziness that is my life right now.
-Woke up
-Ate breakfast while installing a blog
-Answered emails (for the first time today)
-Showered, went to the school
-Planned centers
-Planned beginning of the year letter
-Finished book genre labels. Put in my bookshelf and organized books.
-Got home. Ate lunch while answering emails (for the second time today).
-Finished this blog (that I started last night)
-Finished business cards for a customer
-Talked to my husband and almost had a mental breakdown
-Cleaned the kitchen and living room
-Took out the trash
And it’s only 6:00. Tonight, I have to…
-Finish the master classroom schedule
-Revise a blog design
-Finish planning for the first week
-Cut the grass
-Do the dishes
-Finish my morning work Promethean board files
-Answer emails before I go to bed (I usually always have to do this last thing before bed)
Sheesh. It wouldn’t be too bad if I had a break every now and then, but I’ve literally been running like this for five days now.
Ok, I’m done ranting. Let it suffice to say I’ve scheduled a sit-around-and-do-nothing day tomorrow…because I’m on CONTRACT as of Thursday (meaning – I’m at the school full time!).
Did I ever show the tiki hut in the classroom? I think it turned out super cute!
(Pssst – If you’re a teacher, I also have a huge collection of teacher planning printables here!)
And I finished this blog last night. This was a cool job – I was literally working on the blog while this lady was in labor! She wanted it up before her baby was born (I’m presuming today – she was induced last night.)

You are TOO busy. Glad you planned a day to relax! Your tiki hut looks amazing and your books baskets will be great! You seem like you are so organized so even though it is super stressful I bet you are way ahead of some of the other teachers…Enjoy that day of rest! -Katie
So last year was my first year teaching…and a word from one teacher to another: don't expect perfection from yourself at all this first year!! No one expects it from you, relax, and enjoy the experience. It is going to be hard and you will make mistakes, but hey, that is how we learn best. A seasoned teacher told me the day before my "first day": "Honey, cool it. The kids are never going to know if you mess up. All they want is for you to love them." She is absolutely right, and that is the best thing we can do for them!
wow, i don't know how you get it all done!! your class room is super cute!! i could never be that creative!
You are one busy woman! Thanks so much for making my blog and etsy store so great! BTW, I love the tiki hut!
Wow…busy, busy, busy. But — productive…good for you! I love the tiki hut! I'm sure your kiddos are going to LOVE your room. I hope you have a wonderful first day of school, and I hope your first year is GREAT! I miss this time of the school year. 🙁
