Having a baby in the middle of cold and flu season can be a little unsettling. We’re already doing a little extra this year to prevent the spread of germs around our house. As much as I love almost every aspect of Emmie going to preschool, the sickness she inevitably carries home is definitely not one of those. Plus, we live in our house…it is not always pristine, just like most family homes out there. There’s no way around bringing in and spreading common cold and flu viruses just by living our everyday lives.
Luckily, with a little bit of insight (and a few cleaning supplies), you can do your part to ward off those seasonal cold and flu germs! I’ve listed 20 of the most germ-ridden places in your house below…a few of these you might not think to clean, but it’s so important that they are regularly disinfected to keep your family safe!

Hi Leslie
Now that I am a semi-retired nurse, I have lots of time (not so much energy) to clean. Just wanted to share this product. I have had dogs/puppies over the years. One thing I found out is when they piddle outside on the concrete, even when I spray it down, it smells awful later. Dog people have shared Odoban with me. Now I use it for almost all my cleaning uses – it eliminates odors, is a fabric and air freshener, and works wonderful as a disinfectant. Kills flu germs, athlete’s foot, all the other germs that I won’t get into. I use the regular scent for outside patio and inside I use the lavender scent. I have nothing to do with the OdoBan company, I just wanted to share. π
Thanks for all your tips – I am using your schedule to clean now. What a difference in EVERYTHING. I can be rather scattered – I start in one room and end up in two others, not accomplishing much. So this is a great list for me!
Great tip, thanks so much! I’m definitely going to try this on some of the furniture our dog loves. π
