First thing’s first…happy Veteran’s Day, and a huge thank you to all of the veterans out there for your service! As crazy as this week has been, it wouldn’t be possible in the first place without what you have done for us. You are very appreciated!
Now onto you, Bobo…you are NINE months old! I can’t believe you’ve been here with us for as long as I was pregnant now. It seems like the past nine months have gone a hundred times faster than the nine months before that…isn’t that how it works, Mommas?
Here’s what you’re up to at 9 months!
As of yesterday morning, you were 24lbs, 3oz…that puts you in the 97th percentile for weight!
Still not a huge amount of growth in this department, but you’re up to 29.25″ now. That’s in the 85th percentile.
Twelve month clothes are starting to get a little snug. 🙂 Slow down kiddo!! I can totally see us breaking out the 18 months clothes in the next few weeks.
Size 3’s are still great (although I’m not buying anymore in that size, I don’t want to have a ton of leftovers when they finally do stop working). We have to use overnight diapers at night, but otherwise regular 3’s are just fine. You’re going through maybe 4-5 a day.
You’re eating more and more real food! You usually get a little finger food at lunch and dinner now (that’s more so I can feed Sister and get a little bit of food, myself)…but in the past couple of days, you’ve started acting hungry at meal times, so I think you’re starting to adjust to a more “adult” food schedule.
You’ve tried a lot this month. I usually give you a fruit/veggie puree in a pouch at lunch, along with some kind of finger food (crackers or cereal, sometimes a little bit of torn up bread too). You’ve also tried cheese and love it…you’re your Momma’s son! 🙂
Still nursing about every 3 hours, even at night. I think it’s time to start phasing one or two of those feedings out (and if it wanted to be that 2am feeding that goes, I wouldn’t be mad).
Very big, brown eyes! And you might have gotten the slightest little bit of hair on top this month. It looks a little red sometimes! (Noah’s beard is red sometimes in the summer, so I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if we have a red hair gene in there somewhere.)
I will say one thing for you: you’re on a really consistent schedule. You take 2 naps a day, usually around 9:30-10 in the morning and then around 1:30-2 in the afternoon. If I’m lucky, you’ll sleep for 2 hours for each one of those…usually closer to 1-1.5 hours though. You go to sleep at 7-7:30 at night and usually wake up in the mornings around 7.
But. (BUT.) Still waking up every three hours at night. Again, I’ll give you the fact that you’re on a great schedule. You wake up around 11, then again around 1-2, then again around 5, so at least it’s usually pretty predictable.
I’m honestly used to it at this point, so it isn’t as bad as really having a newborn. But MAN I’m looking forward to sleeping for more than 3 or 4 consecutive hours again. This too shall pass…and I just keep on thinking about the fact that I won’t have a snuggly, tiny baby when it does. So I’m taking the good with the bad. I’m also still using it as an excuse to nap when you and Sister nap in the afternoon, which I don’t hate.
We’re seeing the beginning stages of walking! You love standing and do a great job of standing without us when you’re holding onto the couch. You’re starting to cruise when you’re holding onto the couch too. You bounce up and down when we’re holding your hands and even take a step or two if we encourage it.
You get so shy when strangers talk to you. You bury your head in my shoulder and give them the sweetest little sheepish smile. It is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
You’re starting to pull up a little! You work so hard to pull up on things when you get determined.
No crawling, but you are the king of the army scoot. You can get across a room in 2 minutes flat if we’re not watching you. I’m really starting to wonder if you’re going to be one of those babies who skips crawling!
You have 7 teeth now…three on the bottom and four on the top.
You grab everything! Cords, glasses, and straws are your favorite, but you generally know when you’re not supposed to have something, because that’s what you’re going after.
You can say Mama, Dada, and Bye Bye if we encourage it. You also love to imitate sounds. If we use a high-pitched tone, you’ll talk back to us with a high pitch. And you love babbling at us! I wish I knew what you were saying, because sometimes you’re so passionate about it.
You love SO hard. Don’t get me wrong, you love everybody…but they’re not kidding when they tell you how much boys love their mommas. No doubt you’re a momma’s boy. You give the absolute best hugs in the world and the sweetest smile when you see me.
If we tell you “Pat a Cake,” you’ll clap your hands together. You also love giving high fives!
You are super ticklish on your neck. You think it’s so funny when I take your arms in or out of a shirt. And you love, more than anything, to kick yourself in the face.
And a little bit of housekeeping…
