Happy Friday, friends! It has been so incredibly long since I’ve done a Five on Friday post. I used to love just doing kind of a brain dump at the end of the week, but just haven’t for the longest time. I’ve had such a full editorial calendar for months and have been getting ideas translated into posts as fast as I can get them written. But I’ve got a bunch of little topics that don’t really need their own post that I wanted to share, so let’s knock them all out today!

Ok, we need to talk about this waffle maker for a second. It is so stinkin’ cute. Noah and I have said for the longest time that there needed to be an Eggo-sized waffle maker (our kids like Eggos so much more than big Belgian waffles). Somebody posted this on Instagram a few weeks ago and I had to have it!
The day we got it I sent this picture to Noah to show him the size…it’s way smaller than my hand. Perfect for little mini waffles for kids! I picked the silver because that’s really what most of my appliances are, but there are lots of different colors here.
We officially have a kindergartener! Emmie started school a couple of weeks ago and is loving it so far. The longer days have been an adjustment for all of us, but I feel like we’re finally starting to settle into a good routine. She gets off of the bus every day just beaming.
And in #okayestmomever news, I’m finally getting around to projects that I meant to do all summer but never did. I posted this on Instagram this week…That would be her school work…from preschool. That I haven’t done a thing with. Pictures are done and I’ll be making a book of work like we’ve done for years past!
I really want to do a full post about this eventually, but let it suffice to say that we are absolutely loving our weekly workout routine. I knew that I wanted to join a gym once Jackson dropped his morning nap…once he was done with it in June, we started going every weekday. It has made a massive difference in all of our well-beings, both physical (for me) and mental (for me and the kids). I’m getting stronger and feeling better about myself, and it’s been an awesome way to kind of form a daily routine for Jackson (that he so desperately wants/needs).
I also started experimenting with counting my macros after my weight loss kind of plateaued earlier this month. If you’re not familiar, counting macros just means you’re balancing out the amount of protein, carbs, and fat you get daily (while still staying below an overall calorie number). I know it sounds intimidating, but it’s really not difficult once you get the hang of it. I’ve actually been eating more in the past week or two and and weight has been falling off! I have more energy throughout the day, don’t feel those sugar crashes I normally get in the afternoon, and have noticed that a ton of bloat is gone. Guys – let me tell you – if you hit a weight-loss plateau, give it a try. It’s awesome! (I am so not a great source of info on this – Google is your friend if you’re trying to determine how to start counting.)
And one more note if you’re currently doing workouts from home – The Freedom Fitness Bundle launched this week and is such an amazing resource if you’re crafting your own workout routine. It has ecourses, videos, and ebooks that help you learn how to learn how to efficiently do cardio, bodyweight toning, and even express workouts at home. You can find over $1800 worth of resources for 97% off by clicking here – but this offer is only available through Monday, August 28th!
Freezer Meal Boot Camp fans – I have a surprise for you! Last night, I uploaded the newest menus for the slow cooker boot camps that will be released next Thursday, August 31st. You can click here to check them out!
I’ve got one of these sets completely ready to go (pending my proofer, aka Noah, doing his magic) and one still has to have 1-2 meals tested before it goes into formatting early next week. These are awesome sets if you’re a slow cooking fan…we’ve loved the recipes in these two. Lots of flavor and incredibly easy! I tried to include as many kid-friendly recipes as possible too. We’re not big fans of making separate meals just for kids around here (they learn to eat what we eat), so I have to have some kind of compromise in our menus that allows for kid-friendly foods. I think this is a great set for that!
I have a full house building update planned to go up in the next couple of weeks…so much has happened since our last one! But let’s take just a little peek at what’s been happening.
Trim work has been going in for the past couple of weeks. I had no clue how much of an impact it would make! The trim guys do crown molding, baseboards, coffered ceiling in the living room (not in yet), door casings, window casings, and the custom closet work in the kitchen pantry and master bedroom closet, as well as a couple of other little projects I’m sure I’m forgetting. It really just adds up to a lot of little things that, all together, make a huge impact on the look of the house. It’s looking so much more finished now!
We stopped by the house yesterday to grab a peek. The crown molding is almost completely finished. I couldn’t believe how much of an impact something that seems so little makes on the look of everything.
The start of our wainscoting was in too! You can sort of see it in this view of the dining room. You can also see paint colors to the right…top left is our all-over color (SW Amazing Gray), bottom right is cabinets (SW Popular Gray), middle is bathrooms (SW Comfort Gray), and the ones on the right are for Emmie and Jackson’s rooms (SW Sleepy Blue and SW White Dogwood). The only one missing from the swatches is our exterior shutter and kitchen island color, which is SW Manor House.
These two are ready to be in the house…and so are their parents. Our builder is estimating we’ll close the first week of October, pending weather. So we need lots of no-rain dances, please! The rain has been unreal around here lately and caused our finish date to be moved back by a few weeks.
It’s looking a little bit more like a house every time we go. We’re hoping to see paint in the next week or two!
YAY for the weekend…I hope you guys have a fabulous one!
