A few times a year, our homes just need a little bit more TLC. We’re coming out of a long winter, and I’m going to guess you haven’t put a ton of thought into how “fresh” your home seems.
Spoiler: it’s not fresh at all right now.
There are places to be cleaned, supplies to be replaced, and even little touches that can be added to your home to make it feel like a brand new space. With all of the new greenery and life going on outside, this is the perfect time of the year to give your home a little bit of new life! Today, I’m sharing a few super simple steps you can take (with a line-up of great products) to refresh your space, no matter the size.
1. Clean those less-used surfaces.
Places like your kitchen table and counters get cleaned all the time – but what about those surfaces you might not think about very often? Give them a quick wipe-down with a disinfecting wipe like those from Boulder Clean.
Boulder Clean Disinfecting Wipes are ready to use and knock out even the toughest of messes. They kill 99.9% of household germs with plant-based ingredients. These non-toxic wipes can be used on any non-porous surface – great for some of those places that aren’t cleaned very often, like behind a sink, around shower faucets, and even that (treated) dining room table you never use.

2. Do a little bit of home supply maintenance.
With this, I’m not talking about toilet paper – think of those items around the home that are rarely replaced or replenished. This is a great time to make sure your air filters, welcome mats, and even pillows are nice and fresh.
The Pacific Coast Stayloft Organic Cotton Cover Pillow is a great option to include in your new bedding. Its 100% Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certified Organic Cotton Cover blocks dust mites and has a special weave to keep the down in place while you rest your head.
You can find more information about Pacific Coast Bedding at their website.
3. Follow the 10 minute rule.
One of my go-to tips for decluttering your home is to set a timer for 10 minutes per room. Clean, organize, and sort absolutely everything you can in that 10 minutes. If you feel like you’re doing with everything you can possibly do and the timer hasn’t gone off yet, find something else to clean! I guarantee you that there is always something else you can organize, dust, scrub, or purge.
But, just as important as continuing to clean is stopping the cleaning at 10 minutes. Cleaning and organizing projects can quickly become overwhelming; having a rule that you stop when the timer ends limits this to a simple cleaning session. Doing this once a day is one of the foundations of my cleaning system and is incredibly effective when you stick to it.
4. Bring some greenery into your home.
Who says all of the beautiful greenery has to be outside? Spring is a wonderful time to add that freshness inside your home as well. Bonus points if you can find plants that are a) useful and b) smell wonderful – this Indoor Herb Garden does all of that!
An herb garden is a great way to grow useful and delicious plants, no matter how much space you have. This kit includes non-GMO herbs like basil, cilantro, sage, thyme, and parsley. You’ll get everything you need to grow your herbs indoors, like pots, soil, seed packets, and markers. Perfect for those beginner growers who want to experiment with gardening.

5. Light a candle.
My go-to, #1 way to refresh your home (no matter the time of the year) is to light a candle. Something about it just changes the whole mood in a space. I’m a little bit of a candle addict – I love using different scents to set different tones in my home. And what better way to add some freshness for spring than to light a linen candle!
The Lulu Candle in Fresh Linen is such a bright, airy scent that instantly makes your home feel more open and clean. These candles are vegan, paraben-free, cruelty free, and made with soy wax. Crafted here in America, they make a fantastic gift for someone you love who needs a little bit of a home refresh too!
